Inventory of gardens and landscapes in Portugal

This inventory completes the set of more than 725 Portuguese gardens from all the regions of Portugal (the North, Porto, the Centre, Tagus/the West, Lisbon, the Alentejo, the Algarve, Madeira and the Azores) integrated in the European database, designed by researchers from the Maison de Recherche of the University of Caen (France), in a dynamic, multilingual research interface, with an advanced search engine, which offers easy access to professionals, researchers, students and the general public.
The Portuguese part of the database has been developed by the Centro de Ecologia Aplicada (CEABN) [Centre of Applied Ecology]of the Instituto Superior de Agronomia [Higher Institute of Agronomy] in partnership with the Institut Européen des Jardins & Paysages (IEJP), with the goal of creating a research and archive platform of Portuguese parks and gardens and at the same time to provide Portuguese data for the great European inventory being developed by the IEJP.
The information on the 47 gardens of the Azores, which are all georeferenced and fully identified, was introduced in 2018 by Mariana Andrade and Ricardo Cruz and validated by Isabel Albergaria (University of the Azores) and Cristina Castel-Branco, the Portuguese representative of the Institut Européen des Jardins & Paysages.
